Ho'oikaika Mana O Na Kapuna (Dragon Moon® Yoga)

The Dragon Moon Yoga Program is part of the Dragon Moon Hawaiian Studies curriculum. Most people understand the word Yoga to refer to an East Indian system of body, mind and spirit exercises related to Hinduism which develops the prana or energy of the practitioner. There are however other cultures which have comprehensive exercise programs which also deal with more than just the physical body. In the Chinese system we have Chi Kung, sometimes refered to as Taoist Yoga, which develops the chi or energy of the practitioner. In the Hawaiian system we have Ho'oikaika Mana O Na Kapuna, literally translated as "mana building exercies of the ancestors."

Movements from this Hawaiian style of yoga originated from mana or personal power building exercises found in hula, lua, lomi lomi, canoeing, surfing, and from carefully watching the natural movements of birds and animals indigenous to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands.

In order to bring awareness about this Hawaiian art of Ho'oikaika Mana O Na Kapuna, Dragon Moon Martial Arts Association refers to this unique system of Hawaiian body, mind and spirit development simply as Dragon Moon Yoga. This Hawaiian art, unique to Dragon Moon Martial Arts Association, forms the internal backbone of Dragon Moon® Kung Fu.
